Witness the Splendor...The Total Eclipse of the Sun!
On Monday, August 21, we will be treated to a rare and spectacular celestial show — the first coast-to-coast TOTAL solar eclipse in nearly 100 years. This eclipse will stretch across the United States with a path cutting through the upper central portion of Missouri. La Salle Retreat Center will be a prime location to see the moon come between the sun and the earth, casting its shadow and creating darkness in the middle of the day.The Partial phase of the eclipse begins at 11:49 a.m. The Total eclipse is at 1:15 lasting 2 minutes and 14 seconds.

Overnight Package. August 20-21, 2017.
Check-in at La Salle on Sunday, August 20 between 7-8:00 p.m. In additon to your twin bedroom in the West Wing (dorm is not air conditioned), a hot breakfast, Mass and a reflection/meditation experience will be provided Monday morning. Package also includes a box lunch and solar eclipse glasses. Educational material about the eclipse will be available. All guests are encouraged to tour and enjoy our beautiful grottos and meditation areas any time during their stay! Cost for overnight package is $75 (nonrefundable). Payment required for registration. Registration is needed by Monday, August 14.

Can't stay overnight? Join us at 11:00 a.m. for the eclipse! The Partial phase of the eclipse begins at 11:49 a.m. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch! Solar eclipse glasses will be available for sale while supplies last.
Cosmic Cookies, Star Juice (lemonade) and water will be sold for your viewing pleasure!
